In order to maximize the views and to screen neighboring structures, view study was performed to select the right trees. Sculptural boulders were whimsically, but strategically placed to create a minimal, but interesting backyard.

Steel and rocks are used extensively to match the style of the house.

In the frontyard, under the formidable Japanese Maple trees,  Hypnum imponens (foot-traffic-tolerant moss) was planted to create a serene urban retreat.
