My Interests

I picked the color palette for this website from one of the painting by my favorite Japanese painter, Isson Tanaka, who spent his most productive period in Amami-Oshima Island working at a silk factory to earn enough money so that he could keep painting. He became known after his died. Every time I see his painting, I am mesmerized by his use of colors.

Hasui Kawase was a Japanese woodprint artist (1883-1957). He was a master of colors as well. I created my website Favicon (the little icon you see on the tab) inspired by his work.

Doll House Enclosure – to protect the dollhouse from cats…

How things are built is endlessly interesting to me. I use AutoCAD and Sketchup simultaneously. The base and lockable casters are from IKEA. Strolling in IKEA to find materials to hack is one of my hobbies.

Sustainability Poster for EDAW/AECOM Seattle. For many aspiring landscape architects, EDAW had been an icon where big visions turn to real life. Starting my profession in 2008 though, hindered my dreams as many projects were either postponed or cancelled. This poster project temporary cheered me up as well as helped me to learn the importance of signs, symbols and icons.

Visualization of concept is fascinating to me. This is an image I created for the Green Alley competition.

I built a powerful PC. I see a PC as a Bento Box.

I want to demystify technologies to empower ourselves.

I record cats’ interesting behaviors. Here Ziggy chirping at a hummingbird and yawn.

I am a cat whisperer.

Photography and Gardening – After my kids went to colleges and I moved from 4,500 SF suburban house to 650 SF urban condo, I have been finding ways to make small spaces more livable and pleasurable. My motto is “You Sure Can Garden Anywhere” to promote living in small print.

My old website, ihatovostudio.com is created using Adobe Dreamweaver. This website frame is only 6 years old, but it looks aged as the technologies have advanced and people’s habit to move-about has shifted dramatically. Thus, I moved on to WordPress technologies.

My new private website, norikomarshall.net is created using Divi theme by Elegant Themes. It takes sometime to learn how to use it, as it is very flexible at the same time, it requires knowledge to micro adjust. All in all, I am very happy with Divi and keep using it for sometime. If you like my website design, I can help you to create yours.
